April 2010

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. There are many ways in which we can recognize and celebrate those persons who have made a contribution to this cause.  Some are professionals like social workers and counselors who help parents sort out the chaos in their lives that can lead to child abuse and neglect.  Others are teachers who identify children in need or recognize special triumphs in a child’s life…or connect with parents struggling to help their child.  There are neighbors or family members who are in a position to see when a parent is having problems with the very difficult job of being a parent and who can lend a hand to ease their burden.  Each of us as a member of our community has a responsibility to watch out for the safety of children and speak up when they are being hurt.

Each of us can be an advocate for a child and help make their world a safe and healthy place for them to grow and thrive. Join us April 28th at 315 H Street, 3:00 – 5:00 pm to meet some

of these child advocates and celebrate their contributions to child welfare.

It only takes a minute…
